Ganiyu Adebowale Owolawi is a seasoned administrator with varied experience in Banking and Manufacturing Industries. He studied Marketing and Advertising at the College for the Distributive Trades, London and obtained a Certificate in Marketing and Advertising in 1981. In 1982, he obtained his Higher National Diploma in Business Studies from the same institution.
He proceeded to Middlesex Polytechnic now known as Middlesex University and read Management at a Post Graduate Diploma level.
He began his working career in United Bank for Africa Plc in 1975 as a Clerk and three years later rose to become a signatory “B” officer in 1978. He proceeded to the United Kingdom in 1979 for further studies. He worked in Berec Nigeria Limited between 1983 and 1990 where he rose to the senior position of Bills Manager overseeing all the company’s foreign exchange and import and export transactions during the Import License era.
He joined the defunct Highland Bank of Nigeria Plc then, an affiliate of United Bank for Africa Plc as Assistant Branch Manager and later the Branch Manager of Lagos, Tinubu branch of the bank. He was at various times Head of Branches, Open Gate Savings and Loans Limited, Manager, Internal Audit, Golden Day International Ventures Limited and Credit Control Manager, St. Emmanuel Hospital, Lagos.
He joined Osun State Investment Company Limited in April 2007 as the Head, Internal Audit. Thereafter he was made Head, Consultancy, Training and Venture Capital Unit of the Company. He also headed the company subsidiary, Livingspring Bulk Purchase Limited, a trading arm of OSICOL.
He, at various times was assigned special duties, one of which was the task of establishing and nurturing the table water producing company business of OSICOL known as OSICOL WATERS NIG. LTD; where he singularly created the brand name ‘ESSENCE’ for the company’s water. This brand has now become a household name in the State of Osun and beyond.
Today, he is Head, Venture Capital & Special Projects Unit of OSICOL and this saddles him with the responsibilities of overseeing all the company’s special projects which presently include the construction and development of the Corporate Head Office building of OSICOL, Osicol Petroleum Company Ltd and the State drug manufacturing company earmarked for resuscitation through partnership with prospective investors.
He also oversees all OSICOL’s real estate projects..
